LOUIS LANNE

Salon Montrouge - Beffroi de Montrouge
February 07th - February 23th 2025

A key event for contemporary art and a springboard for tomorrow’s creators, the Salon de Montrouge has established itself as THE emblematic event in Europe for the discovery of emerging artists in all disciplines.

Louis Lanne is one of the artists selected for the 68th edition.

Inspired by Francis Hallé’s botanical drawings, these landscapes are rich in lush vegetation: flowers or carnivorous plants, rendered strange and delirious by expansive, untamable growth. Sometimes streaked with lines like the staves of a musical score, Louis Lanne’s painting is imbued with great musicality. The outbursts of color and motif are like an improvisation, growing louder as it goes along: eighth notes and sixteenth notes in the variously colored strokes; staccato staccato in the large red dots that punctuate the pictorial tempo. The pulsation of the vivid, neurotic strokes is tempered by flat gradations like those produced by a piano’s sustain pedal, forming zones of blur, like layers of sound.
