    MYEONGBEOM KIM

    Jouant sur des tensions d’équilibre et des installations aériennes et subtiles, le travail de ce jeune et talentueux artiste coréen utilise les codes du surréalisme et explore les frontières entre la naturalité et l’artificialité, le quotidien et l’absurde. Kim Myeongbeom crée des atmosphères magiques et des expériences inhabituelles à travers des rencontres inattendues entre des objets de tous les jours, des créatures étonnantes et l’espace : un arbre qui flotte dans l’air, suspendu à d’innombrables ballons colorés, un cerf dont les bois deviennent branches, une ampoule remplie d’eau où évoluent des poissons rouges…

    L’esthétique de Kim Myeongbeom, toujours riche d’ironie et de gaité, dégage aussi un sentiment subtil d’anxiété. Flottant dans une dimension onirique, ses œuvres nous plongent dans un état d’émerveillement, mais aussi d’incertitude, insinuant souvent la possibilité que les choses tournent mal et que le rêve se transforme en cauchemar.

    Kim MyeongBeom  est né en Corée en 1976. Il est diplômé de l’Académie de Beaux-Arts de Séoul, où il s’est spécialisé dans la sculpture. En 2002, il a obtenu un Master of Fine Arts aux Beaux-Arts de Chicago. Son travail a été beaucoup exposé dans des musées et des galeries aux Etats-Unis et en Corée, mais aussi en Europe où il a été remarqué dans des foires internationales d’art contemporain.
