Les frères Chen Yufan et Chen Yujun travaillent à la fois individuellement et en équipe. Leur travail explore la vie individuelle, la géographie, l’espace et le temps.
Chen Yujun s’est toujours concentré sur des sujets territoriaux et spatiaux, alors que Chen Yufan s’intéressait davantage au concept de temps. Ils expriment leur vie personnelle, leur histoire, leurs recherches et découvertes culturelles et visuelles à travers la pratique de l’art; leurs installations et leurs peintures sont souvent très spécifiques à l’espace qu’ils occupent et amènent le public à les découvrir en les enveloppant dans leur totalité.
Chen Yujun et Chen Yufan sont nés dans la province de Fujian (Chine) en 1976. Ils vivent et travaillent actuellement à Hangzhou dans le sud de la Chine. Diplômés de l’Académie des Arts de Hangzhou, les frères Chen sont considérés comme des artistes majeurs de la scène artistique indépendante. En 2013, ils ont participé à la deuxième édition de « Fuck Off », l’une des expositions les plus controversées, organisée par Ai Wei Wei au musée Groninger (Pays-Bas).
